Amherst Railway Society
January 20, 2004
The next meeting of the Amherst Railway Society is Tuesday, January 20, 2004, 8:00 P.M. at the CAFETERIA of the Amherst Middle School.
Lets Dream a Bit
This program will be presented by N.Terry Hall, Director of NARP, National Association of Railroad Passengers. Mr. Hall grew up in northern New Jersey along the Erie Railroad, and his father worked for the Lackawanna and the Boston & Maine Railroads. He has worked as a writer of technical computer programs. His presentation will include a reflection back in time on passenger rail service, the status of passenger rail travel today, and a guess at the future.
All current members will receive their show passes in a separate mailing soon.
If you have never done so, perhaps this is the year for you to consider working a few hours either before or during our Big Railroad Hobby Show on Feb. 7 & 8. This show has grown from simple table displays at monthly meetings in the 1960s to a two-day show in 3 buildings totaling over 200,000 square feet of floor space. Our 2004 show will be our 22nd at the Eastern States Exposition, and some describe it as the premier railroad hobby show in the U.S. Over a hundred people are needed to do preliminary work as well as work on the actual show days. Please fill out the coupon on the back of this page or call Bob Buck or Sandy Dorfer for more information (413)436-0242.
It is with great sadness that we mark the death of long-time member Bob Bowe. Many of you remember Bob who was on the refreshment committee for many years. His daughter Margaret has joined in his memory, and may attend meetings to see what her Dad was doing on Tuesday nights, and find out what were all about.
BIG RAILROAD HOBBY SHOW Feb. 7 & 8, 2004
Please consider now whether you can volunteer at our great show.
I would like to help at the Big Railroad Hobby Show:
