ONE STEAMy WEEK
the Railroad Photography of Doug Scott
On Wednesday, September 12, Amherst Railway Society member Doug Scott will present a multi-media show featuring steam locomotives on the Grand Canyon Railway in Arizona and the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway in Maine. The program will also highlight current BNSF traffic between Belen, New Mexico and Williams, Arizona as well as a quick visit to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Spoiler alert: the show includes some ALCO photos, too. Doug Scott’s railroad life began in 1977 with a cross-country Amtrak trip. Since then, Doug has ridden most of Amtrak, a good portion of VIA Rail Canada, as well as mileage in Japan, Costa Rica, St Kitts, Hawaii, Alaska, and the Yukon. Doug’s photos have been published by the Mass Bay Railroad Enthusiasts, Trains, Railroad & Railfan, Passenger Train Journal (front cover), the National Railroad Historical Society, the Cape Cod Central Railroad, and the Cape Flyer. A Doug Scott photo is the first slide on the home page of the Amherst Railway Society web site. Doug is also a railroad modeler and regular participant at Amherst Belt Lines shows. Doug is currently on the Board of Directors of the National Railway Historical Society. Amherst Railway Society meetings are open to the public.
