Amherst Railway Society November 18, 2003 Meeting Announcement
The next meeting of the Amherst Railway Society is Tuesday, November 18, 2003, 8:00 P.M. at the Amherst Middle School.
A LOOK AT THE NEW HAVEN RAILROAD IN THE 1960s
Our speaker this month will be Kevin T. Farrell who attends our February show as a railroad and trolley book dealer. He will be presenting color movies including footage of commuter lines out of Boston and New York, lots of FL-9s, EP-5s, MU Cars and a little steam on Cape Cod with Nelson Blounts #127 in 1967. All were shot between 1961 and 1968.
Mr. Farrell has been a long time fan of trolleys and the New Haven RR, covering the last decade of the New Haven with many black and white photos as well as color movies. He is a member and past President of the Boston Chapter, NRHS. He is the recently retired Director of the Mass Rehab Commission Homecare Assistance program which provides homemaking services to disabled people living in the community.

We have been invited! The Connecticut Trolley Museum in Warehouse Point, CT has invited us all to the Amherst Railway Society Day during their Winterfest event on Sunday, December 7, 2003. Proof of membership (your card) will allow for a free pass for ARS members to enjoy the Winterfest Festivity from 5pm until closing at 9pm. For those of you who havent been there during Winterfest, this is a fun evening of riding in vintage trolleys down tracks decorated with colored lights. It is something worth seeing.
MEMBERSHIP ALERT! Please check the date on your envelope. If it says 2003, this will be your last mailing until you renew, and you will not get a pass to the Feb. show. If you are renewing, the cost is $10.00 for one year, $26.00 for 3 years, and $40.00 for 5 years. You may renew at the meeting, or send you dues to Janet Moore, PO Box 341, Warren, MA 01083.
Because of multiple memberships in one household, some of you are receiving 2 or 3 newsletters to one address. To save on postage, I have eliminated some of the duplicate labels for the newsletter mailing only. Every member will get his or her own show pass of course. If it is important to you to have your own personal copy of the newsletter, please speak to me.
A table will be set up at the rear of the hall for display models, pictures, etc. during the meeting.
There is no December meeting. The next meeting is January 20, 2004.
