This Special Edition of the Modular Mumblings has been issued as an urgent plea for your help. We are in desperate need of pictures of the layout.
Unless you have been away for the past several months, without access to the U.S. Mail or the Internet, you are probably well aware that the Amherst Railway Society HO Scale Modular Layout is celebrating its Silver Anniversary at the Big Railroad Hobby Show in West Springfield in 2003. While we are not planning a lot of fanfare at the show, we would like to celebrate with those who have participated over the years. With that in mind, we are planning a dinner with a presentation and other entertainment, for after the show on Saturday night. Those who are participating with the display during the course of the show are invited, as well as some special guests.
We would like to provide some "history" of the Amherst Belt Lines as part of the pre-dinner activity in the form of a slide show. Because our own pool of photographs and slides is somewhat limited, and does not necessarily span all 25 years, we are asking any of you who have taken pictures of the layout, or just your module(s), to contribute to this effort. If you have photographs or slides, especially of the early years (the first layout would be great!), that we could use to assemble this show, please send them to either Clark or Alan. They will scan the pictures and return them to you so there is no need to have copies made. Digital images are, of course, acceptable and may be sent either by email or on CD. (CD's will only be returned on request.) Any information you can provide (year or location of show, module name, etc.) will be helpful, but not necessary.
In order to have enough time to put this show together, we would ask that you send your pictures right away. This will give us time to scan the pictures into electronic format and return them to you. If you would like to contribute to the show, please send your pictures to either Clark or Alan by January 4, 2003. We are looking forward to seeing what you have to show!
That is all for this Special Edition of the Modular Mumblings. We'll be looking for you in West Springfield!
